Amazon Commits $300 Mn to Boost India Logistics Network and Employee Welfare
On April 23rd, Amazon India announced plans to spend over INR 2,800 crore ($300 million) to enhance the safety of its employees and grow its logistical networks. The online retailer intends to spend over $35 billion by 2030 on exports, employment, and digitalisation driven by artificial intelligence. With this development, Amazon India continues to grow its core and rapid commerce operations in India.
In 2025, the company invested INR 2,000 crore, which allowed them to open 17 new fulfilment centres, 6 sortation centres, and 75 last-mile delivery stations around the country. In addition, it launched Amazon Now, a service for fast online purchases that has since grown to include over 300 micro-fulfilment centres in strategic locations.
Amazon Spreading its Wings in India
In order to boost capacity and delivery speeds, particularly in Tier-II and Tier-III cities, Amazon India will enhance and extend its India operations network. This expansion includes installation of fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations. In addition to boosting the local economy, it will help out vendors and mom-and-pop stores. With delivery times varying from minutes to days, the business intends to grow Amazon Now in both current and new cities.
Customers are the lifeblood of any business, according to Abhinav Singh, VP of operations at Amazon India and Australia. In terms of the health, safety, and financial security of its associates, the brand will continue to set the standard. Amazon India plans to spend more than INR 2,800 crore this year to bolster these initiatives. Customers can expect their orders to arrive at their doorsteps quicker, safer, and more reliably as the business keeps expanding its operational network and developing new technologies.
Amazon Overhauling its Infra in India
Climate control systems, improved ventilation, and energy-efficient infrastructure are part of the facility upgrades being carried out by Amazon India. Workers with impairments will also benefit from rest rooms, easier access to water, spot cooling systems, and other accessible features. It is also using machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to make operations safer and more efficient. These features include AI-led route planning to balance workloads, notifications for dangerous driving, and reminders to take breaks.
The driver app is getting an upgrade that will make it easier to navigate complicated addresses, show revenue more clearly, and streamline procedures. Flipkart, JioMart, BigBasket, and other fast-commerce companies like as Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto compete with Amazon. Nearly 440 million Indians will be shopping online by 2030, driving the country's e-commerce business from its present $120-140 billion valuation to $280-300 billion, according to a BCG analysis.
