Euler Motors Upgrades Palwal Facility for Commercial Four-Wheeler Production
Euler Motors is expanding its manufacturing facilities in Palwal to cater to the increased demand for electric commercial four-wheelers in India. The new plant will be able to produce models like the Storm EV and Turbo EV 1000 and will include comprehensive testing of critical vehicle systems.
On August 20th, electric commercial vehicle maker Euler Motors revealed plans to increase production in Palwal, Haryana. It has invested more than INR 100 crore in a plant specifically for the production of its four-wheeler (4W) lineup.
This plant can produce up to 24,000 vehicles per year, which is enough to cover the product portfolio that includes the Storm EV and the Euler Turbo EV 1000. Hero MotoCorp's Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal, accompanied by members of Euler Motors' executive team, inaugurated the facility. Euler Motors is owned by Hero MotoCorp to the tune of about 36%.
India’s EV Sector Witnessing Huge Transformation: Munjal
According to Munjal, the commercial transportation sector in India is experiencing a critical juncture. A number of factors, including favourable government regulations, rising demand for sustainable last-mile mobility, and improved total-cost economics, are contributing to electrification's upward trend. Herculean efforts on the part of Hero MotoCorp to acquire Euler Motors are indicative of the company's faith in the future of electric mobility in India and its own capabilities and vision.
He noted that the new facility puts Euler in a good position to expand its demonstration that EVs can meet the performance, cost, and technological demands of commercial clients. According to Munjal, the company is working to strengthen the EV ecosystem by combining Hero MotoCorp's complementing assets. Its secondary objective is to hasten India's shift to commercial mobility that is smarter, cleaner, and more efficient.
New Facility’s Offerings
With testing integrated throughout every level of manufacture, the plant employs a layered validation strategy. The business boasted that thorough testing is conducted on critical systems, such as the suspension frames, drivetrain, and steering, in order to spot faults early. According to Saurav Kumar, Founder and CEO of Euler Motors, the four-wheeler cargo segment has relied on internal combustion engines (ICEs) for a long time due to the fact that no electric vehicle has been able to match ICEs in terms of pricing and performance. When it comes to 4W electric vehicles, the Euler's Storm EV and Turbo EV 1000 have proven to be the perfect match. These two machines are helping to increase segment penetration from approximately 1% to 5.8% in the category and obtaining around 28% of the market share for Euler.
Euler's Four-Wheel Vehicle Setting the Benchmark
Euler Motors' four-wheeler electric commercial vehicles are in high demand, and the expanded Palwal facility will assist in meeting that need while also providing skilled jobs to the local community. All of the company's automobiles are supposedly made and designed in India. For decades, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles have been the mainstay of India's four-wheeler light commercial vehicle category. These vehicles transport some of the country's heaviest goods along some of its longest routes.
That was all set to change as Euler Motors unveiled two cars that would rival each other in terms of technology, affordability, and performance. Taking it a notch further, the Turbo EV 1000 was the first electric truck with a tonne of power and price that could compete with internal combustion engine trucks. First commercially available in India with ADAS technology was the Storm EV. As a result, this technology is now accessible to a demographic that has never before had access to features like night vision assistance and collision alerts.
