On 20 August, PhonePe said that it has inked an MoU with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to include PulsePro, its business data intelligence platform, into the PM GatiShakti framework. The technology generates market signals from aggregated and anonymised transaction data.

This paves the way for businesses to make better, data-driven decisions by giving them access to actual activity trends across different regions and types. According to the company's announcement, the partnership will help with national infrastructure planning, economic research, and comprehensive urban and rural development by providing hyperlocal, granular data.

Specifics of MoU Between PhonePe and MeitY

The agreement states that the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan portal, run by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N), will use PhonePe PulsePro indicators. Data-driven intelligence, according to MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan, can help with better planning and decisions. To enhance current datasets, PhonePe PulsePro offers hyperlocal and granular insights. More than that, it will shed light on new trends in different markets and regions.

With the help of one of India's most extensive and valuable sources of market knowledge, the government is empowering organisations to make more informed decisions while maintaining strict privacy protocols and responsibly using their data. Hyperlocal market trends, retail network planning, and category performance can all be better understood with the help of this platform.

Why Data Privacy is so important?

Data privacy in the digital payment ecosystem is once again a hot topic with the debut of PulsePro. While anonymised and aggregated datasets can provide useful market knowledge, strong protections are needed to avoid the abuse of customer data, according to industry experts. PhonePe assured its customers that their names and financial information will be safe with PulsePro because it is built to utilise only aggregated transaction trends. Using PulsePro, PhonePe is extending its offerings to include business intelligence services that are driven by payments data, going beyond digital payments.

In order to assist businesses in making better strategic decisions, the platform provides location-specific and category-level customer insights while ensuring that data remains anonymous. Businesses in all kinds of industries may find analytics tools like PulsePro indispensable as the need for data-driven decisions rises. With its improved analytical capabilities, PulsePro aims to attract business users. But for those who want access to more comprehensive digital payment data, the old PhonePe Pulse platform will be available for free.

In 2021, PhonePe launched PhonePe Pulse, an open data portal that allows users to access it free of charge and provides insights on the digital payment market in India. Businesses in need of more in-depth market intelligence can take advantage of PulsePro's powerful enterprise-grade analytics, marking a significant leap forward.
