The US-based Plaud is placing its bets on India, a country whose growth is outstripping its worldwide business, even while Indian AI wearables startups are eyeing the US market. According to Megumi Yoshinaga, Plaud's head of APAC marketing, the company is experiencing a tenfold increase in growth every year on a global scale.

Growth in India has outpaced that benchmark. Since launching in the US in 2023, the company has grown quickly. Plaud announced in June that it has sold over 2 million devices and has yearly recurring income of more than $100 million. Plaud was funded in excess of $1 million in pre-orders when it debuted on the crowdfunding portal Kickstarter. At the moment, it sells four gadgets worldwide, and India is one of them.

Plaud Exploring India Ever Growing Tech Wearable Segment

In 2025, Plaud began selling its products in India through Amazon and its own website. Retail collaborations are increasingly driving its offline expansion. Estimates put the value of India's wearables industry at $3.6 billion in 2026, coinciding with the company's entry into the country. Market research firm Mordor Intelligence predicts it will reach $10.3 billion by 2031, expanding at a CAGR of 23%.

With a 62.78% share, smartwatches make up the majority of the market. Nevertheless, the research agency found that in 2025, health and fitness tracking made up 53.82% of the smart wearables market in India. Interestingly, NeoSapien and Antimattr, two domestic AI wearables firms, have decided to sell in the US. Over time, NeoSapien anticipates that the United States will account for 30% of its revenue.

Why India is so Important to Plaud?

Plaud's current consumers are likewise sending messages about the importance of India. According to Yoshinaga, some Indian clients have even gone as far as visiting airports in Singapore or the United States to acquire the company's products before going back home. Through offline retail, local recruiting, and after-sales assistance, Plaud is now aiming to establish a stronger footprint in India.

Customers will be able to view and touch the devices before purchasing them thanks to the company's ambitions to collaborate with local retail partners. It is currently in talks with "larger retail partners" to increase its offline distribution, and the business has stated that their gadgets are available through "select SME channels" as of right now. Having said that, the firm is not planning to launch its own stores anytime soon. Rather, it intends to study the Indian market thoroughly before establishing its own retail outlet there. Strong demand from Indian buyers is one reason Plaud decided to enter the Indian market. With the global availability of its Team product, the company is also placing its bets on the enterprise market.
