The Indian market is set to receive a $250 million injection from Sigenergy, a Chinese manufacturer of energy storage equipment. The investment will be used to establish production facilities for inverters and battery energy storage systems, according to a senior official of the company.

According to Rahul Morde, head of sales for Sigenergy India, the company plans to construct an inverter manufacturing unit by the second quarter of 2027. The Indian branch of Sigenery officially launched earlier this year. Potential sites for the plant are being investigated by Sigenergy.

Sigenergy’s Expansion Plans for India

At the brink of the Renewable Energy India Expo, Morde announced that the company will be establishing a battery energy storage systems factory. This facility is anticipated to begin its operations six to eight months after the inverter plant. According to him, the business is also planning to establish a battery energy storage systems research and development centre in India. The company is seeking investment permissions and has complied with India's data storage requirements, according to Morde.

In order to achieve its clean energy targets, India is planning to quickly increase its capacity for renewable energy and grid-scale energy storage, which will open doors for manufacturers. For both business and domestic use, Sigenergy designs and manufactures energy storage solutions, such as inverters, batteries, and energy management software. After obtaining $562 million (or HK$4.4 billion) in an initial public offering, the business made its debut on the Hong Kong stock market in April.
