According to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), six businesses have rectified the breach as of August 16th. As a result of the legal letters sent to these companies, they have taken steps such as removing deceptive labels and trademarks. Six food business operators (FBOs) have responded quickly to FSSAI's notices by taking corrective action, according to a social media post by the agency.

In order to guarantee consumer safety and compliance, the FSSAI has announced a variety of steps, including the removal of deceptive label claims and changes to product packaging. According to the FSSAI, Livyor Ventures Pvt Ltd has removed the deceptive "vegan & healthy" claim. The business has responded to the false statements made about their "Livyor Roasted Edamame Beans" product label.

Players Responding to FSSAI’s Notices

Livyor Ventures Pvt Ltd responded by saying that they were unaware of the relevant regulatory requirements and therefore added the words "vegan" and "healthy" on the product label by mistake. The FBO has apologised for the breach and conveyed sincere regret for the oversight, according to the regulator. It has also promised that this kind of noncompliance won't happen again. In addition, the FBO has already started making changes to the product labels, as it has already communicated. In order to prevent future use of the package material that contains the non-compliant statements, the company is currently destroying it.

Heliostone Specialities Pvt Ltd and Honest Innovations For You Pvt Ltd have also updated their misleading trademark. In response to the notification, Rajasthan Agro and General Industries has discontinued using the PPM and removed or altered any statements that could be considered misleading. After discontinuing the manufacture of non-standardised water, Iota Nanotechnology Pvt Ltd removed deceptive claims from the label. The electrolyte drink was removed from Panchamurtha Industries Pvt Ltd's website. The FSSAI has prosecuted numerous FBOs for infractions of the law in recent months. It has also taken action against producers of alcoholic drinks and energy drinks.

Supreme Court Questions FSSAI’s Stand

Warning labels should be placed on the front of packaged foods that contain high levels of sugar, salt, or saturated fat; the Supreme Court delivered an ultimatum to the government on this matter on August 13th. In a resounding dissent, the highest court in India has spoken out against the actions of the federal government and the FSSAI.

Continuing the question over whether or not corporations were pressuring the authorities. The court informed the government and the FSSAI that this is a matter of public health, especially for the growth of children. The highest court in the land also said that corporations shouldn't have a say in the matter.

When the petitioner brought up the FSSAI's claim that the industry was against labelling, a bench consisting of Justice K Vinod Chandran and Justice JB Pardiwala drew attention to the matter. The attorney representing the petitioner referenced the March 7 meeting minutes of the FSSAI. Consequently, asserting that the judgements rendered therein were in stark contrast to the prior orders of the court.
